Behind the scenes with the key players in the EU’s circular economy
The circular economy is key to Europe's future. It will help decouple economic growth from resource use, protect the continent's natural resources and boost sustainable growth. Going circular will help the EU reduce its consumption footprint and double its circular material use rate by the end of the decade.
But things are moving slowly and we need to do more.
The current linear economy still dominates our economic model, demanding ever more natural resources which are getting ever more limited.
This is why the European Commission is preparing the Circular Economy Act. By switching to a more circular economy and using and consuming in a more circular way, we can reduce pressure on natural resources, create sustainable growth and jobs, and halt biodiversity loss.
