Since 2011 Closing the Loop (CTL) has been proving a successful waste compensation model. It has developed a unique approach in which customers pay to compensate for the purchase of new electronic devices, and the fee is used to collect scrap mobile phones and batteries with CTL's long-term networks in Africa for responsible recycling in Europe.
The use of alternative resources has a long tradition in the Austrian Cement Industry. The success story originally started with the processing of alternative main constituents for cement production. The recent trend reaches out further for the substitution of natural raw materials for the clinker production. For every ton of cement, almost 500 kg of alternative resources have been reused.

First2Run is a flagship project involving four companies and universities from Italy, UK and The Netherlands, demonstrating technical, economic and environmental sustainability on an industrial scale.
