The World BioEconomy Forum is based on the idea that there needs to be a global platform where circular bioeconomy stakeholders can get together, exchange views and come up with a joint agenda for this increasingly important topic. The World BioEconomy Forum Event 2021 is moving to Latin America. The main Forum will take place in Belém, the capital of the state of Pará, Brazil on 18–20 October 2021.
Belém is known as the Metropolis of the Brazilian Amazon region and is the gateway to the Amazon River. It has a rich history and is located in the heart of a world-renowned ecosystem. The World BioEconomy Forum wants to make Bélem and the state of Pará a hotspot for the global circular bioeconomy.
More specifically, the World BioEconomy Forum 2021 will take place in a central location of Belém at the Estação das Docas. The docks are located by the waterfront, and are a historical site which has been revitalised as a cultural centre for the region, showcasing the gastronomy, fashion and events of the Amazon.
The event programme is built around the four key topics of the World BioEconomy Forum, and will consist of presentations and high-level panel discussions. It will produce a declaration comprising statements focusing on the four key topics:
- The Bioeconomy: People, Planet, Policies
- Global Leaders and the Financial World
- Bioproducts around us
- Looking to the Future.
As well as the forum itself, site visits will be organised to local destinations.
The WCBEF will monitor the restrictions dictated by the pandemic. It has already been decided that this will be a hybrid event, taking place both on site and online. While looking forward to a time when the pandemic no longer prevents the popular onsite event being held, they are also preparing for an online event which will come to you live from Belém.
