Description

In 2019, Carrefour Belgium introduced a range of reusable and recyclable carrier bags made from marine waste. There are three types of bag: a tote bag, a trolley bag and a foldable bag with a pouch.

The retailer has collaborated with Seaqual, an organisation that cleans up the oceans and seabed, to source the plastics used to make these bags.

Main results

Around 10 kg of ocean waste plastics are used to produce approximately 100 bags.
