Favini's upcycled ecological papers: Shiro Alga Carta, tackles harmful algae
Shiro Alga Carta paper, patented by Favini in the ’90s, is the pioneer in their upcycling ecological paper range. It uses algae from the Venice lagoon, whose proliferation would put at risk the lagoon’s fragile ecosystem.
Today this concept has been extended to other fragile marine areas, giving Shiro Alga Carta the double asset of using biowaste and helping clearing the waters from proliferating, harmful algae.
Any unavoidable emissions produced during the manufacture of Shiro Alga Carta are totally offset thanks to the purchase of carbon credits.
The Shiro Alga Carta concept has proven both commercially viable and ecological, as it has relieved the Venice lagoon from damaging algae. So much so that today the production processes of similar algae coming from other environments are at risk around the world, such as Brittany (France).
