International Conference - Phosphorus Raw Materials in Visegrad Countries

The International Conference - Phosphorus Raw Materials in Visegrad Countries will take place on 24 April. It will take stock of the PhosV4 project on "How to stay alive in V4? Phosphorus Friends Club builds V4's resilience".

This project is financed by the International Visegrad Fund, part of the Visegrad Group (V4) comprised of Czechia, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary. The project aims to increase knowledge about and awareness of the importance of phosphorus raw materials for food production in the V4, to build a V4 phosphorus management strategy so as to secure enough of this element for food production, to explore phosphorus-rich waste in the V4 countries and to analyse the options for phosphorus recovery from waste.

The conference seeks to present the issue of phosphorus scarcity in the V4, which will hinder food production in the region, and to set out innovative technological, environmental, economic and social solutions that can be implemented under the Circular Economy and Green Deal Strategies.

The conference will explore the following topics:

  • Phosphorus as an important raw material for food production
  • Innovations in phosphorus mining and processing
  • Phosphorus as a component in fertilisers
  • Phosphorus as a climate factor
  • Phosphorus in environmental protection
  • Applications of phosphorus in electronics
  • Phosphorus in medicine
  • Phosphorus as a material for energy storage
  • Phosphorus in organic chemistry
  • Phosphorus in lighting technology.

You are invited to submit presentations addressing phosphorus management. The presentations do not need to be limited to the V4 countries; they can cover any aspect of phosphorus raw materials. The conference programme includes oral and poster presentations in English. Submitted abstracts will be included in the conference materials.

There is no charge for participating in the conference, held under the auspices of the Honorary Patronage of the European Sustainable Phosphorus Platform.

The conference will be held in hybrid format on 24 April. The venue is Bielany Water Treatment Plant, Księcia Józefa str. 299, Cracow, Poland or online (online participants can listen only). It will be held in English.
