LOOPS live webinar series is committed to giving voice to the Horizon 2020 projects offering avant-guard solutions to climate change and promoting sustainable development.

In this episode of LOOPS on 26 September 2022 (14:00 - 15:00 CEST), participants will plunge into the world of textiles and explore solutions to make it smart, circular and sustainable. The two Horizon 2020 projects MY-FI and HEREWEAR will give participants an insight into their ground-breaking solutions.

MY-FI aims to develop a new non-woven fabric made of mycelium micro-fibres, with improved performance and reduced environmental impact as compared to current commercially available fibres. The project intends to optimise and upscale new bio-fabrication protocols together with wet processing and material finishing. Its goal is to meet the consumer demand for sustainable and eco-friendly textile products.

HEREWEAR, in turn, aims to contribute to the creation of an EU market for locally produced circular textiles and clothing made from bio-based resources. Emerging sustainable technologies for wet and melt spinning of cellulose from waste streams and bio-based polyesters will be developed and piloted at a semi-industrial scale. HEREWEAR will also work on yarn and fabric production as well as coating and colouring with bio-based agents. Moreover, the project aims to significantly reduce the release of microfibres via measures for the textile manufacturing process, and maximise the sustainability and circularity of clothing through connecting regional microfactories.

This episode will be broadcast on LinkedIn Live.
