The role of the circular economy in the water sector in Romania

Scope

This conference will take place (in Romanian) in Cluj-Napoca (Romania) at the Staff Training Centre of the SOMEȘ Water Company on 3 November (10:30 – 14.00 CET). It aims to facilitate dialogue and the exchange of best practices at regional level on policy in the water and wastewater sector within the AquaREC project with a view to:

  • promoting sustainable water resource management
  • ensuring universal access to drinking water, public sewerage and wastewater treatment services, and
  • implementing a specific circular economy action.

Participants: Romanian representatives from the North-Western Region (Alba, Hunedoara, Sibiu and Mureș).

This event is the first in a series of conferences bringing together major representatives in the field, decision makers from government institutions, local administrations, experts and other stakeholders to discuss and devise solutions and strategies to promote clean water, the circular economy and sustainable development in the water supply, wastewater and sludge treatment sector.

The other conferences will take place in:

  • Buzău on 21 November
    • Participants: representatives of central public institutions, local administrations, academics, sustainable development experts and representatives of the Muntenia Region (Prahova, Buzău, Brăila, Brașov, Covasna, Vrancea, Vaslui, Bacău and Galați)
  • Bucharest on 29 November, at the headquarters of the Romanian government - Transilvania room
    • Participants: representatives of central public institutions, local administrations, academics, sustainable development experts and representatives of the southern region (including Constanța, Călărași, Ialomița and Ilfov).
