The future of the EU Green Deal in cities: a chance to give your views!

The European Green Deal is a cornerstone of efforts to achieve climate neutrality by 2050 and deliver the Sustainable Development Goals in the EU. Many policy targets are dependent on action by local and regional authorities.

The current Commission's mandate is coming to an end, and so this is a good time to kick-start discussion on the "future" Green Deal and the role of local and regional authorities in implementing it.

The European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) is therefore launching a stakeholder consultation for urban policy experts and policy makers, in order to get a better understanding of policy and target priorities for EU cities.

The survey aims to identify the structural conditions and major barriers which are keeping Green Deal policies from being rolled out in cities and to collect success stories of Green Deal delivery in cities. Do you have any examples?

The survey (deadline: 29 March 2024) will take you 10-15 minutes to complete: the JRC is counting on your support and would ask you to forward this survey to relevant departments in your government / organisation, relevant officials and peers who might be interested in contributing. A broad cross-section of responses is needed to ensure balanced participation from across the EU.
