The conference aims to provide a high-level political and policy platform to reflect on the achievements of the BIOEAST Initiative, and its support project, BOOST4BIOEAST. It will also shape the next phase of cooperation for a competitive, sustainable and resilient bioeconomy across Central and Eastern Europe and the wider BIOEAST region, including Ukraine, Moldova and the Western Balkan countries.

The BIOEAST Initiative supports the development of circular bioeconomies based on knowledge and cooperation in the BIOEAST countries. BOOST4BIOEAST is a Horizon Europe project running from January 2024 – December 2026. Supporting the BIOEAST Initiative, it aims to empower national stakeholders in the Central Eastern European and Baltic countries to develop national bioeconomy action plans and build long-lasting structures and spaces for dialogue.

Building on a decade of BIOEAST cooperation, the conference will bring together high-level representatives of the BIOEAST countries, the European Commission and other European institutions, together with key regional stakeholders.

It will take stock of what BIOEAST has achieved from the perspective of the BOOST4BIOEAST project, such as national bioeconomy implementation and designing macro-regional research and innovation priorities for competitiveness, and look at the future of the European bioeconomy and the role of the wider BIOEAST region.

The conference will also widen the BIOEAST Macro-region’s reach by rolling out the successor to BOOST4BIOEAST: the new BIOEASTWIDE project aims to accelerate cooperation with Ukraine, Moldova and the Western Balkans.

This all-day, in-person event will take place on 25 November at the Committee of Regions in Brussels. See the programme and register (registration open until 10 November).
