Rather than supporting technology as an end in itself, the call for Circular digital applications to increase resource efficiency and the circular economy in companies and municipal institutions and implement circular business models will support digitalisation as a means of developing the circular economy and more efficient resource use. It also aims to contribute to job creation and retention, knowledge transfer in the field of sustainable circular economy and resource efficiency, and greater competitiveness for companies, especially SMEs

Funding will be provided for projects that enable material savings and/or the recycling of products, product parts or materials, thus reducing the need for resources and the associated greenhouse gas emissions. The projects should use digital solutions to enable more efficient use of resources in companies or contribute to strengthening circular value creation processes. This includes increasing product life, industrial symbiosis, promoting reuse, reuse or recycling, product tracking, and innovative incentive systems.

Companies, particularly micro-enterprises, start-ups and SMEs are eligible to apply. Large companies can apply only if they will be working with SMEs.   

Projects must be carried out in Germany by German companies. 

The projects will run for up to three years, and the financing will cover up to 50% of the costs. EUR 100 000 to 1 million are available for successful applicants.
