Dutch green projects scheme
Environmentally-friendly projects in the Netherlands may be eligible for a bank loan with a lower rate of interest.
The green projects scheme (Regeling Groenprojecten) promotes new developments in environmental technology, the circular economy, and durable and innovative (construction) projects.
Projects must be no more than 6 months old and eligible for a green declaration, with at least EUR 25 000 in capital.
Projects must fall into one of the following categories:
- nature
- sustainable agriculture
- circular economy (this category includes biobased materials, resource efficiency, lifecycle extension and recycling)
- sustainable energy
- sustainable construction
- sustainable transportation
- climate adaptation
The process for investing in a green project is as follows:
Check it is eligible for a green declaration.
Submit a project plan with an investment plan to a bank with a green fund.
The bank will apply to the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) for a green declaration on your behalf and they can grant you a loan at a lower interest for this investment.
This programme is likely to continue until the end of 2027.
