Summary of the pledge
NGR commits itself to further develop the real-time quality-monitoring of rPMs, make this “Multi-Inspection-Unit” accessible to all equipment users and manufacturers, start engaging in establishing a National Norm (Member State level) for real-time quality-monitoring of rPMs and further to push for EU-Standards and ISO-Standards for preparing the groundwork for globally comparable procedures and scientifically sound rPM-quality outputs.

Once the process is issued as standard, subsequently NGR commits itself to close ties with approving bodies for “Recycling-Certificates” (currently referred to as “EUROCERT Plastic”). NGR further commits itself to place one or more “Multi-Inspection-Units” to high-profile plastic-recyclers and publish scientifically backed-reports on those findings. NGR will create sufficient manufacturing-capacity to allow for timely equipping the EU-Plastics Recycling Industry as of today and for increasing demands, to enable the target of 10 million tons by 2025. This commitment also allows for the creation of a higher levels of confidence towards rPMs from the converting industry – a boost of 41% is to be expected once quality is permanently monitored in real-time and this processing data is seamlessly available.

Implementation Steps:
  • Data collection together with plastic recycler and issue of report on the findings
  • Standardization of the “Multi-Inspection-Process” on a Member State level, further on EU-Level and ultimately as ISO-Standard
