About the Award

The European Ombudsman works with the institutions, agencies and bodies of the European Union to achieve the highest standard of administrative practices possible for the benefit of European citizens.

In 2016, Ombudsman Emily O'Reilly launched the "European Ombudsman Award for Good Administration. It aims to recognize initiatives, projects, and other types of work by the EU's administration that have a visible and direct positive impact on people's lives in Europe and beyond. The Award has no monetary value but is a token of recognition of excellence.

"Excellence in citizen-focused services delivery" category and the ECESP

As a joint initiative by the European Commission and the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), ECESP is competing in the "Excellence in citizen-focused services delivery" category. The Platform is an example of an initiative of two public administrations to foster the debate and drive change in the circular economy by involving civil society stakeholders. It creates an innovative space for exchange to empower civil society in the green transition.
