European Commission consultation on the Circular Economy Act: still open!
Don't forget that the Commission has launched a public consultation and Call for Evidence for the forthcoming Circular Economy Act.
The goal of this exercise is to gather input from a wide range of stakeholders and the broader public, so that the Commission can really understand the bottlenecks and opportunities when it comes to rolling out a circular economy.
The Circular Economy Act aims to accelerate the transition to a more circular economy, increasing the EU’s economic security, resilience, competitiveness and decarbonisation. It is set to be adopted in 2026, and aims to establish a single market for secondary raw materials, increase the supply of high-quality recycled materials and stimulate demand for these materials in the EU.
This consultation will help align the Circular Economy Act with key EU initiatives, such as the Competitiveness Compass, the Single Market Strategy and the Steel and Metals Action Plan and the implementation of relevant legislation, such as the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation, the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation and the Critical Raw Materials Act.
All stakeholders are encouraged to participate in the online consultation via the Have Your Say portal. The feedback period is open until 6 November so if you haven't contributed yet, you still have time!
