Want to help revise the EU Ecolabel criteria? Join the SME Working Group!
Ecopreneur.eu and adephi are EU Ecolabel Representatives. The EU Ecolabel promotes goods and services which have a guaranteed reduced environmental impact throughout their entire lifecycle. It helps consumers, retailers, business and procurers to make truly sustainable choices - meaning that the label is important for businesses.
The two representatives are launching a working group to give SMEs a voice in the revision of the EU Ecolabel criteria. Several product groups are currently ongoing or approaching revision, specifically Detergents and Cleaning Products (adoption expected end-2026), Tourist Accommodation Services and Indoor Cleaning Services (end-2027) and Textiles, furniture, and mattresses (2027–2029), so it's a good time to give your input!
The group will provide a structured forum where SMEs - whether current EU Ecolabel licence holders, companies applying or those considering certification - can share practical experience, give feedback on changes proposed by the EU, propose their own improvements, identify administrative barriers, and feed input into the EU policy process.
SMEs can participate at different levels of engagement, from receiving updates to contributing to position papers and EU Ecolabel Board stakeholder meetings. Time commitments are designed to be realistic for small businesses.
