Movin'On Summit 2026: session on The circular economy: a realistic key to European competitiveness?
The European Summit for Sustainable Mobility will take place on 8-9 October. 30 sessions will explore issues ranging from sustainable urban mobility in West Africa to adaptation, mitigation: the transition's new trade-off.
The 40-minute round table on the Circular Economy Act will discuss whether the Circular Economy Act can make Europe the powerhouse of the circular economy, reconciling environmental ambition with industrial competitiveness – or whether it will bring more restrictions than benefits.
The panellists will look at whether the Act will drive change or represent additional red tape for businesses, what is needed to develop a circular value chain, and how European standards affect competitiveness, the need to avoid competing asymmetry and just what shifting from political ambition to implementation will entail.
Negotiations on the Act are still ongoing, and this debate will help inform the choices that will shape circularity in the future.
This session will take place at 16:30 CEST on 9 October.
