EPR as a signal for circular design
Extended Producer Responsibility systems already cover part of the cost of waste management, but they could do more. If the costs and incentives for producers were adapted, EPR schemes could send market signals promoting products and packaging that are more durable and designed for reuse, repair and recycling.
This session is organised by the EPR Club in collaboration with the ECESP's Leadership Group on Economic and financing instruments for the circular transition. It will explore the role of EPR schemes in the electronics supply chain. What is the impact of eco-modulation criteria for EPR fees for electric and electronics waste? Does adjusting EPR fees in line with product characteristics really reward better eco-design and encourage producers to improve the longevity, reparability and recyclability of these products?
The fundamental question is what makes these mechanisms effective and how can they move from financing waste management to rewarding circularity upstream. That's what this session aims to answer!
This webinar will take place at 10:30-12:00 CET on 10 November.
