Novelis, the world leader in aluminium rolling and recycling, invites you to a webinar on 26 October from 17:00 to 18:00 CEST to discuss how sustainable frontrunners are innovating the shift towards making fully recycled aluminium products the norm, and to consider how EU policy can accelerate this transition.

The speakers are:

  • MEP Bas Eickhout (Vice-Chair of the Environment Committee, European Parliament)
  • Marius Vaščega (Head of Cabinet to Virginijus Sinkevičius, Commissioner for Environment, Oceans and Fisheries, European Commission)
  • Martijn Lopes Cardozo (Circle Economy, CEO)
  • Emilio Braghi (Novelis, Executive Vice-President and President Europe).

Anna Gumbau (climate journalist) will moderate this debate.

Aluminium, a material that is an infinitely recyclable and a critical material for many clean technologies. It has an essential role to play in transitioning to a climate-neutral and resource-efficient circular economy - the ambition set out by the European Commission in its Green Deal and Circular Economy Action Plan 2.0. A Sustainable Products Policy Initiative (SPI) with ambitious recycling and recycled content targets will be vital to seize these opportunities.

This webinar will also present Novelis’ ambitious, market-leading strategy that sets the pathway to become a fully circular business by significantly increasing recycled content across its product portfolio as well as to achieve reductions in its carbon footprint (30% by 2026, including scope 1-3 emissions, and net-zero by 2050). This discussion with high-level policymakers and stakeholders will contribute to the policy debate ahead of the European Commission’s circular economy legislative package scheduled for 14 December and the negotiations among the EU institutions on the Fit-For-55 package.
