CLOSER to the future: Circular innovation for resilient regions and microelectronics sovereignty
This event will showcase how Europe’s circular value chains can become more inclusive, resilient and sustainable, with a focus on microelectronics, resource recovery and circular economy infrastructure. It will present the CLOSER and EVEN-CLOSER projects:
- CLOSER (Circular raw materiaLs for european Open Strategic autonomy on chips and microlEctronics pRoduction) looks at the development of an EU supply chain that can recover and reuse secondary raw materials from semiconductors in e-waste and industrial waste in order to manufacture chips and related products. It will focus on techniques for collecting, extracting, purifying and reclaiming materials from for e-waste, boosting EU production of semiconductors with a view to open strategic autonomy, promoting circularity in photovoltaics for sustainable energy solutions and advancing digitisation to support circular value chains and the digital product passport.
- EVEN-CLOSER (involvement of less dEVeloped rEgions to streNgthen the CLOSER circular value chain for chips and microlectronics production) is closely linked to the CLOSER project, focusing on incorporating less developed regions into the EU supply chain.
This will be a unique opportunity to hear from experts, innovators and policymakers about unlocking local potential and creating green jobs through interregional cooperation.
This is an #EURegionsWeek 2025 side event. It will take place in English and probably in person only at 09:00 - 12:30 CET on 14 November. Register here.
