YEFECE: e-learning course on sustainable design and entrepreneurship
The Youth Entrepreneurship in Furniture Up-Cycling for Employment within Circular Economy (YEFECE) is a consortium of organisations which aim to equip young people with practical skills for the circular economy and upcycling.
The six partners come from across Europe and have expertise in research, education, design and technology. They have produced an e-learning platform that helps create meaningful social and environmental impact.
The platform offers free and accessible training on circular economy practices, with a focus on furniture upcycling. The online course builds practical skills in sustainable design and entrepreneurship, where both beginners and people with experience in the field can learn something.
Learners are guided through the upcycling process with expert knowledge and real-world examples. The modules take learners through every stage of the upcycling journey, from sourcing quality waste materials to launching and marketing your products. Short lessons give people the chance to fit the course into their timetable and the practical assignments enable participants to try out the techniques.
The course is open to anyone interested, but the particular target audience is people facing economic, educational or social barriers, ensuring equal access to the benefits of circular entrepreneurship. The course is available in English, German, Dutch, French, Spanish and Romanian.
Developed by a European partnership and co-funded by the European Union, YEFECE supports inclusive learning and promotes designing with a better social, environmental and economic impact.
