The SYMBIOREM project (Symbiotic, circular bioremediation systems and biotechnology solutions for improved environmental, economic and social sustainability in pollution control) aims to use the bioremediation capabilities of microorganisms, microbiomes, proteins, plants and animals to remove pollutants from the environment

These pollutants include heavy metals, mineral oil, Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons and Volatile Aromatic Hydrocarbons and their presence in our environment poses a serious threat to human health, causing multiple mental and physical diseases and premature deaths. Environmental pollution is also a major factor in the decline of biodiversity, reducing the ecosystems’ capacity to deliver services such as carbon sequestration and contaminant removal.

During this webinar, SYMBIOREM experts will showcase a series of solutions adopted across four different water and sediments-related test cases in Europe, contaminated by nutrients, heavy metals and hydrocarbon pollution. A range of methods and approaches will be presented, such as floating islands, floating wetlands and a cascade bioreactor system.

This event will take place in English at 10:00-11:30 CEST on 21 April. Registration.
