Financing the circular transition: Buildings
The Joint Initiative on Circular Economy (JICE) brings together the EU’s largest public promotional banks and institutions (BGK – Poland, CDC – France, CDP – Italy, EIB, ICO – Spain, Invest-NL – the Netherlands and KfW – Germany).
Against the backdrop of the expected EU Circular Economy Act and a shifting regulatory environment, JICE is launching a webinar series to deepen market understanding of financing needs, gaps and bottlenecks for the circular economy across selected sectors.
This series is designed to showcase the perspectives of sector representatives across the value chain: from producers and manufacturers to recyclers as well as a broad range of stakeholders such as municipalities, innovators, start-ups and investors, each with their own viewpoint on financing needs.
It will draw on contributions from policy makers and stakeholders across the value chain to explore the challenges and opportunities shaping circular economy financing.
The first webinar will explore circular buildings and construction value chain, digitalisation, product passports, and financing needs and gaps.
It will:
- Review the state of play of the circular economy in the construction and building sector, covering both emerging and existing business models.
- Raise awareness about the circular elements, actors and complexity of the value chain (i.e. secondary materials, design, contractors, demolition and dismantling, digital materials databases).
- Examine the economic and financial challenges limiting the large-scale deployment of circular construction models along the value chain.
- Discuss financing sources, needs and gaps from the perspective of key actors in the value chain.
- Share practical experiences and case studies from practitioners, start-ups and stakeholders managing circular construction activities.
The webinar aims to build a shared knowledge base that supports a more effective dialogue between industry and finance and helps design better policies and financial tools for a circular building and construction sector.
This webinar will take place at 10:00 - 12:00 CEST on 24 June. Programme and registration.
