Circular Green Public Procurement (CGPP) uses public purchasing power to promote low-carbon, circular and environmentally sustainable goods, services and works helping protect ecosystems while reducing pollution.

By setting environmental criteria in public tenders, authorities can shift markets toward sustainable solutions such as low-carbon materials, reuse and repair. However, uptake remains uneven across EU Member States. Common minimum criteria and capacity building can support wider adoption and reduce administrative burden.

The Interreg Central Europe project CE-PRINCE (green PRocurement and Innovation Network for Circular Economy) supports the transition to a circular economy by strengthening companies’ circularity and public sector capacity to design circular tenders.

This event will present practical experiences with circular procurement criteria, market consultations and capacity building, while discussing challenges such as the tendency to prioritise short-term benefits over long-term value and the perception that markets and organisations are not yet ready for circular solutions.

The session will be interactive, using live polls to capture audience views on the use of circular and green public procurement, and its strategic role in lowering environmental impacts, protecting ecosystems and promoting biodiversity.

It will take place online at 10:00 to 11:30 CEST on 25 June. Registration and programme
