Residues to resources: Innovating high-value solutions from agri-food side-streams
How can agricultural residues help build a more sustainable future?
This event is organised by AgriLoop, a project funded by the EU, UK Research and Innovation, the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China, and the Swiss Confederation. It aims to extend the agricultural production value of two major players in the global bioeconomy (the European Union and China) by using under-exploited residues to produce high added-value bio-products able to generate new markets or compete with oil and food crop-based equivalents.
The conference will show what the project has achieved over the last four years. It will showcase innovative circular value chains that create opportunities for agriculture and industry while helping tackle challenges such as plastic pollution in soil.
Sessions will look at topics such as managing agricultural residue circularity, unlocking biomass value through cascade extraction, and advanced biological strategies for converting agri-residues into microbial protein and PHAs.
Participants can choose to take part in one of the three workshops on residues to revenue, next-generation proteins, and plastic particles in agriculture.
There will also be roundtable discussions, networking opportunities and a live Q&A with farmers and agroecology stakeholders.
It's a chance to connect and collaborate with farmers, industries, researchers and policymakers driving global change.
Sessions will be in English with the exception of the live YouTube section, which will be in French with some interactive elements translated.
This event will take place in person on 27-28 October. There is no charge for attending - see the programme and register.
