Have your say on the revision of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive

In 2020 the European Commission presented its Renovation Wave strategy to boost energy renovation of buildings in the European Union, which contains an action plan with:

  1. regulatory, financing and enabling measures; and
  2. the goal of at least doubling the annual energy renovation rate of buildings by 2030.

This goal requires a revision of the relevant EU legal act, the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive. The revision will focus on provisions that are central to boosting building renovation. It will be relevant for the circular economy from the point of view of material efficiency and life cycle aspects of buildings.

The Commission would like to hear your views on this directive, so participate in this public consultation, called roadmap, which is open for feedback till 22 March 2021 (midnight Brussels time).

Feedback will be taken into account for further development and fine tuning of the initiative. The Commission will summarise the input received in a synopsis report explaining how the input will be taken on board and, if applicable, why certain suggestions can't be taken up.
