The MANTRA project, funded by the EU under Horizon Europe, aims to accelerate the green and digital transformation of manufacturing SMEs in Europe by promoting advanced technologies and social innovation.

They have three open calls:

Open call for manufacturing SMEs - funding opportunity

• The MANTRA project has launched its first Open Call to support the sustainable, digital and social transformation of European manufacturing SMEs. With a total budget of EUR 1.25 million, the call aims to select up to 25 SMEs, each eligible to receive a lump-sum grant of up to EUR 50 000 to implement innovative transformation projects.
• The call is open from 16 June to 15 September 2025, targeting SMEs operating in eligible manufacturing subsectors such as machinery, electronics, food, textiles, plastics, metals and ceramics. Applicants must propose projects that integrate advanced technologies, such as AI, robotics, IoT or big data, while contributing to circular economy principles, environmental performance and socio-economic growth.
• In addition to financial support, selected SMEs will gain access to tailored advisory services provided by the MANTRA consortium. These services include technical consulting, innovation management, regulatory compliance and training and all are designed to accelerate digital adoption and sustainability outcomes.

Call for expressions of interest from tech-savy SMEs

• The MANTRA project is calling for expressions of interest from tech-savvy SMEs to join a curated pool of solution providers who will support traditional SMEs in their transformation journey.
• This call is open from 16 June to 15 September 2025. Selected tech-savvy SMEs will be featured in the MANTRA Marketplace and invited to co-creation workshops, contributing to strategic partnerships and tailored transformation strategies. The Marketplace facilitates visibility, collaboration and access to new markets while strengthening the resilience of European industry.

Call for external evaluators

• The MANTRA project has launched a Call for Evaluators to assess proposals submitted under its Open Calls. Evaluators will play a vital role in ensuring a transparent, impartial and high-quality selection process by conducting remote evaluations of eligible proposals, participating in consensus meetings and preparing evaluation summary reports.
• Experts from EU Member States and Horizon Europe Associated Countries with demonstrated expertise in areas such as manufacturing technologies, sustainable and green manufacturing, digital transformation, energy efficiency and innovation management are invited to apply. A strong command of written and spoken English is mandatory.
• The deadline is 15 September 2025 (17:00 CEST).
