Description

The RE-PLAN CITY LIFE project (RElevant Audience Plan Leading to Awareness Network for CIrcular Economy Use of Recycled TYre materials in CITY LIFE ) is funded under the Life Programme. It aims to raise awareness about the circular economy potential of materials, products and applications obtained from tyre recycling and encourage the uptake of environmentally-friendly behaviour and practice in urban communities.

Specifically, the project provides information on models and experiences that may easily be adopted to improve the transport infrastructure (roads and rails), concrete and building (steel fibre-reinforced concrete for industrial flooring and roads, rubber sheets and layers for noise reduction, recycled fibre textile panels for insulation), urban and street furniture, and sports and leisure products and applications (sport facilities, rubber surfaces for multisport and leisure activities, etc.).

It has set up a platform with:

  • a Community open to anyone involved in the Recycled Tyre Materials (RTM) value chain and interested in sharing their experiences. You can upload your profile to be added to the database of bodies, public and local administrations, civil engineers, architects, public and private designers and technicians, building associations, roads and rails authorities, sports federations, tyre recyclers, RTM suppliers, product manufacturers, end users and other relevant stakeholders.
  • a Marketplace providing an online catalogue with the materials, products and applications obtained from tyre recycling and already on the market. The inventory will make it easy to search for the products available. Users can upload products.

In addition to the community and marketplace, the platform includes:

  • a Calculator intended for manufacturers, designers or environmental professionals interested in assessing the circularity and environmental impact of products. Users can input specific values related to factors such as the percentage of renewable materials, pre-recycled content, post-recycled content, reused materials and virgin materials. The calculator produces the Origin Index (type of raw materials) and End of Life (what will happen to the components at end of life) Index. These indices offer valuable insights into a product's sustainability performance from its inception to the end of its lifecycle.
  • a list of training courses related to RTMs.
