From niche to centre: Mainstreaming circular lifestyles in European cities
The EU-funded project NiCE – from niche to centre focuses on promoting circular lifestyles and sustainable consumption structures in city centres. It has collected good practices, conducted pilot projects in cities and developed recommendations for action.
The expert conference will mark the conclusion of the project. It will:
- transfer the knowledge built up during the work carried out by NiCE and the project leader, the German Environment Agency (UBA),
- provide good examples promoting circular lifestyles in cities,
- facilitate networking among urban development actors with a view to follow-up projects,
- enable participants to contribute and present their own projects/results.
Participants will be able to choose one of the following deep dive sessions:
- Circular lifestyles in action: Key lessons from the NiCE project,
- An interactive city walk: A cross-section of the AdNEB project,
- Re-use of vacant space in city centres and good practices in Graz,
- Education for Sustainable Development at municipal level – Biodiversity education and cultural learning as a good practice.
There will also be a Market of Opportunities where participants can present their city, organisation, activities or project at a ‘market stall’ (table + display board) in the UBA foyer. Places are limited: register for a stall by 31 January!
The event is primarily intended for stakeholders working in cities and promoting sustainable consumption structures. This includes cities, regions, their networks, political decision makers, NGOs and initiatives active in this field, as well as representatives of national and regional authorities and EU experts.
It will take place in person only and in English on 11–12 March in Dessau-Roßlau. You will need to register by 15 February (participants limited to a maximum of 100 people). Programme.
