Circular Economy Institute: circular economy courses for beginners and those who have the basics
The Circular Economy Institute (CEI) specialises in circular economy training and accreditation. It aims to empower professionals and businesses with the skills and tools to lead the circular transition, providing circular economy-oriented training and certificates.
It organises two paid, online courses which you can follow at your own pace:
Circular Economy Trained: this is an introductory course. It explains what the circular economy is, why it matters, and how it’s being applied across industries today. Using real-world examples and key concepts, the course explores how circular principles are helping reduce waste, conserve resources and support more sustainable systems. The course lasts 30 hours and has three modules: the principles of the circular economy, introduction to circular business models, and benefits of and barriers to the circular economy. It is intended for anyone seeking a foundational understanding of the circular economy.
Circular Economy Practitioner: this is an intermediate course which equips practitioners with the knowledge and skills needed to lead in the circular economy. The three modules cover best practice for circularity, Ethics and Professional Standards, and Meeting International Standards. It is a 40-hour course intended for professionals working in circular economy roles who manage or lead projects or aim to do so in the future.
The CEI aims to promote the highest standards of practice in the circular economy field, with a view to building the strong leadership needed internationally to shift from linear to circular. Once you have taken one of these courses, you can add the certificate to your CV.
