H2020 CINDERELA project - a tool for building circular construction hubs in cities
Infrastructure and space in European cities are constantly evolving because the growing population and business development leads to heavy demand for raw materials, particularly by the construction and building materials industry. With the support of technology and digitalisation, this demand could be met by secondary raw materials recovered from urban waste streams. This would create genuine opportunities for sustainable development in the construction sector and at urban level.
During the conference on CinderOSS - a tool for building digital circular construction hubs in cities, the Cinderela project consortium will set out how cities and construction companies can become more circular by using the demonstrations and tools developed by the project. The event focuses on demonstrations and support for circular business models that turn waste into construction materials. More specifically, it will present:
- the CINDERELA One-Stop-Shop (CinderOSS): a digital environment supporting the implementation of digital circular construction hubs at local/regional level, as well as circular economy business models in urban construction
- technical solutions involving secondary raw materials recovered from selected waste streams implemented at CINDERELA demo sites in Slovenia, Spain, North Macedonia and the Netherlands. This will show how circular urban construction works in practice.
This conference is the final event of the H2020 CINDERELA project – a European initiative striving to make urban construction more circular by recovering and using secondary raw materials that are available locally. It is a side event of the Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC) taking place in Barcelona on 15-17 November 2022.
