Industrial-Urban Symbiosis (I-US) connects industries and cities to repurpose by-products, energy, water, and expertise, hereby minimising waste, cutting costs, and advancing EU circular economy goals. 

The EU-funded WaterProof project applies I-US through its unique electrochemical CO₂-conversion technology: converting urban CO₂ from waste incineration and wastewater treatment into formic acid (powered by renewable energy) for sustainable fish leather tanning, cleaning products, and metal recovery, while by-products purify polluted water.
