From coffee waste to agricultural resource: The ECOFFEE circular model
This EU Green Week Partner Event will showcase a practical example of the regional bioeconomy in action. By converting urban coffee waste into valuable resources for the primary sector, such as natural biocides and animal feed, the ECOFFEE project creates a direct link between city circularity and rural development while maintaining the competitiveness of local economies.
The event will address the following core areas:
- Circular priorities: High-level institutional perspectives on research, innovation and sustainability within the European agricultural and environmental frameworks.
- Replication and synergies: A roundtable analysing the potential of replicating circular models, navigating current regulatory barriers and exploring cross-border cooperation between Europe and Latin America.
- Traceability and policy: Showcasing applied technological solutions, digital traceability and policy recommendations for EU institutions.
- EU funding opportunities: A dedicated final block reviewing European funding mechanisms and upcoming calls to ensure the continuity of international circular alliances.
This session offers a unique platform for policymakers, agricultural associations, researchers and circular economy stakeholders to exchange insights and drive the green transition on the ground.
It will take place at 14:30-16:00 CEST on 11 June. It will be a hybrid event, held onsite at the European Committee of the Regions in Brussels and online. Registration.
