Summary of the pledge
Expanded Polystyrene is a particle foam. Its protective and lightweight properties make it particularly suitable for both insulation of buildings and protection of goods.
In both of these main applications, lifecycle considerations and recycling opportunities have been an ongoing priority for the European association (EUMEPS) and its members, developing and raising awareness on best practice initiatives.
The EUMEPS Pledge sets out the commitment of the Expanded Polystyrene value chain to accelerate the current recycling programme and establishes ambitious recycling targets for 2025, as well as specifies the assumptions that these targets are based on.
