On 12 June at 10:00 - 13:00 CEST, the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) will hold a public hearing in connection with its ongoing opinion on Aligning the circular economy and the bioeconomy at EU and national level. This opinion aims to enhance the synergies between bioeconomy, circularity and sustainability by promoting a more integrated and systemic approach to the circular bioeconomy.

The event will delve into the potential of a sustainable and circular bioeconomy. It will explore policy options and practical solutions geared to forging resilient bioeconomies that maximise the value of locally available biomass while creating jobs and benefiting businesses and communities

The hearing aims to:

  • Get to grips with the policy landscape of the circular economy and bioeconomy, including overlaps and joint challenges
  • Facilitate knowledge exchange on circular bioeconomy solutions among organised civil society
  • Discuss how sustainability and circular economy principles could be applied in the bioeconomy sector to meet environmental and climate objectives.

The event will be webstreamed with interpreting into English, French and German. Participants will be able to interact using Slido with code #CircularBioeconomy.
