Call for tender: Operation of the Circular Cities and Regions Initiative’s Coordination & Support Office
The Circular cities and regions initiative is about helping improve circularity in local systems and economies. A growing number of cities and regions have drawn up action plans and are actively testing and improving circularity in their economic sectors, value chains and services. Several research and innovation projects and initiatives have been established for that purpose.
Making circular economy action plans deliver concrete solutions has often proved challenging. Innovative, systemic solutions for transitioning towards a circular economy at urban and regional level still need to be demonstrated and replicated effectively elsewhere. A major challenge is to expand circularity beyond traditional resource recovery in waste and water sectors and to make circular solutions sustainable, regenerative, inclusive, and just.
The next steps in this development are:
- setting up a coordination and support office. The call for tender ‘Operation of the Circular Cities and Regions Initiative’s Coordination & Support Office (CCRI-CSO)’ is now open for submission with deadline 1 March 2021. For more information, please click here.
- demonstration projects, including those that will be generated by European Green Deal call on Demonstration of systemic solutions for the territorial deployment of the circular economy.
