Skills4Reuse: teaching material on reusing materials in the construction industry
To ensure that the next generation of craftsmen are able to reuse building materials, we must ensure that they gain theoretical and practical experience with reuse and sustainability through their education – and the first step is for Nordic vocational schools to have access to the right teaching materials.
Skills4Reuse has produced teaching materials which can be used in vocational schools. The goal is to support the development of opinions, knowledge and practical skills so that apprentices and students throughout the Nordic region have the competencies needed to contribute to a more circular construction industry in the future. The teaching materials have been developed as part of the project Competencies for Reuse in the Construction Industry, which aims to put greater focus on the reuse of building materials in the Nordic countries.
The teaching material consists of three courses:
- Introduction: Introductory course on sustainability and reuse in construction.
- Wood: Teaching material for the course on reusing wood in construction.
- Bricks: Teaching material for the course on reusing bricks in construction.
The courses include lesson plans, practical exercises and discussion prompts, and are designed to engage students in real world scenarios. The teaching materials are tailored for vocational school education and can be used either as comprehensive programmes or integrated into existing curriculum where applicable.
It is free to use and available in Danish, English, Faroese, Finnish, Icelandic, Norwegian and Swedish.
