Resource Transition 2026: R&D funding for technologies promoting a competitive and sustainable economy
Austria’s Federal Ministry for Innovation, Mobility and Infrastructure is funding national R&D projects under Resource transition 2026. The call supports technological and systemic approaches to the resource transition.
Types of projects concerned:
- Cooperative R&D projects in areas including sorting and recycling, substitution of critical or problematic materials, efficient materials, bio-based conversion processes, additive manufacturing, data ecosystems for production, AI for green transformation and condition-based maintenance.
Cooperative R&D projects may be allocated from EUR 100 000 to EUR 1.5 million. The maximum funding rate is 85% and projects can last up to 36 months.
Companies contribute at least 60% of the eligible project costs. A 50% indicative budget is allocated for projects in the research categories Experimental Development and Industrial Research. Consortia must consist of at least three partners, including at least two Austrian companies. They must also include either an SME, a research institute or an organisation from another EU Member State or a contracting party to the EEA Agreement.

Qualification networks may be allocated a maximum of EUR 200 000. The maximum funding rate is 100% and projects can last 6 to 24 months.
