Remanufacturing: a hidden business opportunity
One of the key barriers to remanufacturing and product value retention is customers’ mistrust of remanufactured products and components. Ensuring and demonstrating the quality of the remanufacturing process, both internally and externally, helps to strengthen demand for these products.
Building on its previous collaboration with the European Remanufacturing Council, Ihobe, the Basque Country’s Environmental Agency, has developed and published the Remanufacturing Maturity Level Evaluation Guide for this purpose, applying it to six industrial companies.
The manual will contribute to the onoing development of the new European CEN standard from Working Group CEN TC 473 on Remanufacturing – Classification of the quality of circular processes.
The guide assesses the following aspects, facilitating proposals for process improvements:
Management and business strategy
- Resource management
- Product and operations
- Supply chain and parts management
- Information management
- Quality management
- Process material flows
- Technological maturity and know-how
The manual and its practical application in industry will be presented at this Conference, which will be opened by David Fitzsimons from the European Remanufacturing Council and by the Spanish Association for Standardisation (UNE).
This event is intended for industrial companies that remanufacture their own products or third-party components and equipment, customers and suppliers of these companies, as well as technology providers driving the automation, digitalisation and modernisation of these industrial processes.
It will take place in person at 09:30 to 13:00 CEST on 7 May. Registration and programme.
