Stakeholder workshop: Pathways towards competitive, resilient and sustainable European industries
Energy-intensive industries need to stay competitive, secure their energy and raw materials, and cut emissions. These pressures are connected: a change in energy prices, climate policy or trade conditions can affect where companies invest and which regions gain or lose.
Horizon Europe project AMIGDALA aims to help decision makers in government and industry define and evaluate pathways and market uptake of transformative solutions that will enable industries to cope with these challenges. Through common databases and integrated models, the project will contribute to sustainability and circularity objectives.
It has developed an integrated modelling framework that links scenarios for energy-intensive industries with energy systems, trade and regional impacts. Instead of assessing each factor separately, it is designed to show how a change in one area may affect the others.
This workshop will explore how the framework, scenarios and decision-support tools can support evidence-based decision making and inform future industrial and energy policies. The consortium will present intermediate findings, including draft transition pathways for European industry. Feedback from participants will be used to refine the project’s scenarios, indicators and tools.
The event will start with a keynote presentation by Francesco Ferioli from the European Commission's Directorate-General for Energy on Latest European Commission projections: energy for industries of the future and clean molecules, followed by plenary and thematic discussions addressing key challenges and opportunities for Europe's industrial transition.
Participants will have the opportunity to exchange perspectives, share expertise and contribute to discussions on how research and innovation can help shape the future of European industry.
This event will bring together European policymakers, industry representatives and members of the scientific community.
It will take place in person and in English at 09:15 to 12:45 CET on 25 November.
