Call for project proposals to scale up Europe's circular bio-based industries
The Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking (CBE JU) is a €2 billion partnership between the European Union and the Bio-based Industries Consortium (BIC) that funds projects advancing competitive circular bio-based industries in Europe.
It brings together various actors from bio-based industries, ranging from farmers to scientists, to solve the technological, regulatory and market challenges of the sector. Its public-private funding scheme boosts innovation and market deployment and paves the way for future investments.
It has just issued a call for project proposals. A total of €170.7 million across 13 topics will support the development and scale-up of competitive circular bio-based industries in Europe.
The list of topics includes Biotech routes for valorisation of residual biomass, Biotech routes for valorisation of residual biomass, and Films and coatings for circular packaging.

The deadline for applying is 22 September, with results expected in early 2027.
