CEC4Europe Symposium on Science and Research for Circular Economy
To mark its 4th anniversary, in October 2019 the Circular Economy Coalition for Europe invited representatives of the scientific community, research and development as well as ministries and policy to a symposium in Vienna on the theme of Science and Research for Circular Economy. The aim was to highlight current research activities and the symposium was hosted by Prof. Martin Faulstich, head of INZIN Institute and former chairman of the German Advisory Council on the Environment.
A diverse range of subjects were presented, including the EU Circular Economy Package, the use of resources for pop-up housing environments following natural disasters or migration waves, and detection and sorting of mixed waste as a contribution to digitalisation of circular economy. For more details, see here.
For CEC4Europe, circular economy is an essential Europe-wide concern. Effective strategies for a circular economy can only be based on transparent knowledge and data.
As a network of European scientists and researchers in the field of waste and resource management, CEC4Europe has set itself the goal of supporting the European institutions, national decision-makers as well as stakeholders in the process of a transition towards an efficient and effective circular economy by applying a fact-based approach.
