Highlights of the EUCT on Mainstreaming Circularity: Empowering Citizens for the Transition
On 25 June, the Leadership Group on Citizen Engagement & Circular Behaviour hosted the EU Circular Talk "Mainstreaming Circularity: Empowering Citizens for the Transition”. This webinar examined practical pathways to build understanding, shift mindsets and accelerate citizen behaviour change towards the circular transition.
There was an excellent line-up of speakers, moderated by Claire Downey (Rediscovery Centre) and Rosa Strube (CSCP). Here is a summary of what was presented:
- Gordon Hunt from circular.ie presented the very recently published Circular Economy Key Insights Report highlighting growing awareness of the circular economy and effective ways to conduct consumer facing campaigns.
- Arlind Xhelili from CSCP presented the Lifestyle Test, a European online CO2 calculator which helps people reflect on their consumption behaviour, take (circular) action or indicate barriers. Decision makers can learn from such data and remove the barriers.
- Veerle Labeeuw from Circular Flanders introduced the Circular Ambassador Program, a 7-day capacity building session on the circular economy. The three ambassadors, Bernhard Steiner: Professionele training and coaching in Malmö, Andre van Dijk: Sustainability Manager at Philips and Pei-Chen Kang: from Green Pathway Consulting shared their first-hand experiences.
There was excellent audience engagement after the presentations, with participants sharing links to engagement tools, behavioural research and more. Have a look at the recording of the webinar as well as all of the presentations.
