The Western Balkans Circular Economy Hub (WBCEH) has launched the open call for the second Circular Economy Awards for the Western Balkan region

The Awards are a regional initiative created to recognise and give visibility to companies, organisations, municipalities, researchers, innovators and individuals advancing practical circular economy solutions across the Western Balkans.

Following the successful first edition in 2025, which attracted 55 applications from all six Western Balkan economies, the 2026 Awards are open in seven categories:

  • Municipal Circular Leadership Award – apply here
  • Civil Society Circular Economy Award – apply here
  • Circular Economy Education and Research Award – apply here
  • Circular Start-Up Award – apply here

The initiative seeks to identify stakeholders demonstrating measurable circular impact through innovative products, services and business models, improved resource efficiency, waste prevention and reuse, research and education, community initiatives, local policies and other approaches supporting the circular transition.

Applicants can gain regional recognition, increase the visibility of their work, showcase their impact and connect with the wider Western Balkan circular economy community.

Application and timing

Eligible applicants: stakeholders based or operating in the Western Balkans, depending on the respective award category
Application deadline: 10 September
Participation: free of charge
