Description

Beeswax wraps by Malu are a food packaging material designed and produced by a family company from Kraków, Poland. Their purpose is to replace food foil, aluminum foil or disposable plastic containers with a biodegradable and reusable alternative.

The wraps are based on an organic cotton fabric soaked in a special mixture based on beeswax, with the addition of pine resin and jojoba oil. Beeswax wraps are suitable for storing bread, sandwiches, vegetables, fruit, cheese, snacks, or to cover a bowl or cup. The material can be used for wrapping, storing or transporting food.

Importantly, the product is 100% natural, reusable and has antibacterial properties, resulting in longer freshness of stored food. The wraps are printed with attractive designs using organic-based inks. In order to wrap and seal food, users simply place wraps on top of a container and press for a few seconds – the hand’s heat and pressure are enough to seal the packaging.

Main results
  • Introduction of an environmentally friendly alternative to a daily used, often wasted, kitchen tool.
  • Development of a washable and practical material, which can be applied like a single-use packaging foil, while being 100% natural and reusable.
