Description

Envien Group is a major company active in the production of biofuel.

It links up biofuel makers in Slovakia: one such company produces bioethanol from maize by fermentation, another makes biodiesel from rapeseed oil, used cooking oil and other oils using a transesterification process modified to FAME (Fatty Acid Methyl Ester), while a third makes rapeseed oil.

It's an efficient system organised by a group with an eye to the circular economy and the reuse of waste. Each of the companies in the Envien Group produces a biofuel component, with waste used for specific purposes, such as manufacturing pelleted animal feed or as a co-substrate for biogas production. The biofuel components are blended to obtain conventional mixtures of diesel and gasoline.

Main activity field
Main results
  • Since 2007, the Envien Group has produced more than 1 million m3 of bioethanol, which has saved about 1 million tonnes of CO2 in comparison to petroleum
  • Side-streams from production are used mainly for animal feed (pelleted feed in the form of Dried Distillers Grains with Solubles), or as a co-substrate for biogas production in biogas plants (lecithin sludge).
