ECESP Coordination Group members' contributions to the CEA call for evidence
A number of ECESP Coordination Group members have published their contributions to the call for evidence on the Circular Economy Act, to be published next year. This will be a key piece of legislation for the circular economy, shaping its direction and priorities. The Coordination Group covers a wide spectrum of interests, and this necessarily influences their views on what should be included in the CEA and just how the Act should drive on the circular economy.
We've published their contributions so you can see how they feel:
- Academics for Circular Economy emphasises innovation and design.
- RREUSE gives priority to reuse and the role of social enterprises.
- Recycling Europe focuses on recycling and reinforcing the market for recycled materials.
- The Environmental Coalition on Standards (ECOS) emphasises the waste hierarchy and harmonised definitions.
- The European Waste Management Association (FEAD) focuses on boosting the Circular Material Use Rate and ensuring that rules are enforced.
- Generation Climate Europe's priority is prioritising reuse and remanufacturing and addressing overconsumption and overproduction.
- ICLEI Europe has a range of priorities, including leveraging public procurement, reforming the linear tax system and reducing material consumption.
- ACR+ is in favour of promoting circular material use, reinforcing EPR and supporting the circular bioeconomy.
- Circul'R focuses on support for circular business models, reducing the EU's material footprint and incentives for circular solutions.
- The joint statement by seven organisations, including four CG members (the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, the Environmental Coalition on Standards, the European Environmental Bureau and RREUSE) calls for science-based targets on resource use, keeping products and components in use and moves to integrate chemical and circular legislation.
