2025 Basque Circular Summit
The 2025 Basque Circular Summit will be the largest event on the circular economy in southern Europe this year. It will analyse the challenges and opportunities posed by the circular economy for companies, society and the economy in the Basque Country and show what has already been achieved.
It will also be an ideal setting to discuss business opportunities and improve business competitiveness as part of this new economic model. The Basque Government’s Ministry for Industry, the Energy Transition and Sustainability will use the event to drive the circular economy by assisting Basque companies to face the challenges arising from EU policies and thus guaranteeing a transition towards a more efficient production model.
The summit will have three main features:
the Forum will cover all areas surrounding the circular economy: packaging and the textile sector; the transition from the European Green Deal to the new Clean Industrial Deal; critical raw materials; construction materials; the European Ecodesign Regulation; the digital product passport; and the right to repair.
- the Expo will showcase recent developments in the circular economy by Basque companies.
- the Village will be the meeting point, with stands and parallel events where stakeholders working in this field can share their activities. There will be 20 stands displaying achievements in more efficient resource use, along with other priority strategies to address climate change or biodiversity loss.
The second day will focus on analysing the applicable European initiatives for Basque municipalities and the new legislative framework on corporate sustainability transparency. The panels will address topics such as sustainable finances, waste management, assessing the sustainability of SMEs, how to empower consumers, greenwashing and shifting capital investments to sustainable projects.
The final day will focus on how to measure circularity and sustainability in organisations. There willl be examples of circular business models and analyses of the importance of technology to accelerate the climate and circular transition in industry.
The event is organised by Ihobe, the Basque Goverment's environmental management agency, and will take place at the Euskalduna Conference Centre in Bilbao on 2, 3 and 4 April. The main language for all sessions will be Spanish. Only plenary sessions will be interpreted into English and streamed in English.
