The Conference will serve as a platform for dialogue on national and European strategies with a view to the EU's Circular Economy Act and foster discussion among businesses, institutions, associations and research organisations.

It will also present the 2026 Circular Economy Report. This report provides an updated overview of key circularity indicators for the Italian economy, along with comparisons across European countries. It includes in-depth analyses of circular water resource management, critical raw materials and the role of cities in advancing the circular transition.

The morning session will open with remarks by Minister Gilberto Pichetto Fratin and a video message from European Commissioner Jessika Roswall. It will present the 2026 Circular Economy Report, followed by a panel discussion.

A second morning panel will focus on the forthcoming Circular Economy Act, which aims to establish a single market for secondary raw materials, boost the availability of high-quality recycled materials, and stimulate demand across the EU.

In the afternoon, there will be three panels:

  • Expectations and opportunities for Italy linked to the Circular Economy Act,
  • Circular cities and territories, and
  • Circular water resource management.

The conference will conclude with closing remarks summarising the main outcomes of the day.

This conference is organised by the Circular Economy Network in partnership with ENEA and held under the patronage of the European Commission, the Italian Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security, the Italian Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy, and ISPRA.

It will take place in Italian at 10:00-16:00 CEST on 14 May in Rome. It will be livestreamed. Registration and programme.
