The ASCC is an annual international conference and exhibition where representatives from cities, government agencies, international organisations, academic institutions and private companies come together to discuss how to deliver sustainable urban development that balances economic growth and a healthy urban environment.

This year's focus is on the circular economy and carbon neutrality, and the event will pool knowledge, ideas and solutions from Japan and abroad on the theme of a circular society in Asia.

There will be two parts to the event:

Policy dialogue:

  • Presentations from city leaders on advancing circular cities in Asia
  • Keynote speeches by representatives of international and governmental organisations
  • Presentations and case studies by the Asian Development Bank, the World Bank and CITYNET
  • Recommendations for action toward advancing circular cities in Asia by city leaders and representatives of international organisations
  • Presentations of ideas and actions for delivering a green society by representatives from cities, businesses and universities

Urban Solution Showcase

  • Presentations by private sector representatives on initiatives contributing to the circular economy, decarbonisation and urban challenges
  • Pitch session between cities and businesses on urban challenges and innovative solutions
  • Exhibitions: Corporate technologies for circular economy, decarbonisation and urban challenges, alongside initiatives by Yokohama City and international organisations
  • Interactive networking space: sessions, exhibitions and meeting tables connecting participants, speakers and exhibitors

There will be speakers from Europe, such as the Vice Mayor of Amsterdam, the CEO of Circle Economy and the EU Ambassador to Japan.

This event will take place in person in Yokohama, Japan. It is free of charge and sessions will be in English with some sessions in Japanese (simultaneous interpreting available).
